AARVEN
The AARVEN adventure began in 2011 on a small patch of green in East London, where two puppies decided to play together. Their owners - craft development expert Bee Friedmann and designer Amy Fleuriot-Reade started chatting and quickly discovered a common love for design, animals and sustainability. Soon after this chance meeting, they set off together on a six week adventure to East Africa! It was this trip that provided the inspiration to start their business.
It was paramount that sustainability and ethical production would be at the heart of the business for Bee and Amy, producing collections in collaboration with small-scale artisan groups, elevating their craft and providing access to the international market. Bee, the adventurer, is passionate about people and building close, long-lasting relationships with artisans, and oversees the crafting process of every item. Amy creates all the designs in collaboration with incredibly skilled artisans to produce unique, beautiful products you won’t find anywhere else.
Today AARVEN (meaning 'friend of the people'), works with over 30 groups and individuals across Africa and India, creating products which bring as much joy to their creators as they do to the end customer.
From wood block printed textiles, recycled brass jewellery, to hand woven baskets and recycled paper decorations, AARVEN design joyful collections in collaboration with the worlds best artisans.
I so enjoyed meeting Co Founder Amy at a trade show recently and hearing her stories about the work they do with artisans around the world. Their products are all designed in house using a wonderful riot of colours - something we know our customers love - and then made by hand by their partners. Definitely a brand with a heart.

I purchased a few gifts for a friend who had just had a baby. I bought her newborn the Baby Threads Bunny Comforter and the Bird & Kitten Teethers. I also bought the Panda Organic Bath Mitt for the baby's big brother. The gifts arrived promptly, were beautiful and of great quality. My friend loved them. My kids are all grown up but I will be back as soon as I have any grandchildren!
