Most dental professionals recommend changing your toothbrush every 3 months (although the Truthbrush may last longer). When the toothbrush has come to the end of its life, it is recommended to remove the bristles with a pair of pliers before disposal due to the different times they take to biodegrade. Alternatively, instead of composting the bamboo handle, it could be given a second life and be used as a seed marker or paint stirrer!
Truthbrush is a British company located in Ashburton, in the heart of South Devon close to Dartmoor National Park. Its toothbrushes are made in China, the natural habitat of bamboo.
Truthbrush is proud members of 1% for the planet - giving 1% of its total sales to environmental non-profits. It also plants a tree for every wholesale order it receives through Tree-Nation.
Every year over a billion plastic toothbrushes are thrown away worldwide, ending up in landfill, in the sea or washed up on a beach. Using a bamboo toothbrush with a biodegradable handle is a small change but over time can make a big difference. Bamboo is beautiful to look at, warm to touch and fully biodegradable. The natural antibacterial and antifungal properties of bamboo mean the Truthbrush is hygienic too.
Bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world, and is an endlessly renewable resource. It grows naturally without using any pesticides or fertilisers, takes in greenhouse gasses and produces 35% more oxygen than the equivalent trees. Truthbrush toothbrushes are made from Moso bamboo, a type of bamboo which is inedible to pandas. Moso bamboo grows up to a metre a day in China as it has the perfect conditions to thrive.
Materials: Organically grown Moso bamboo handle, 100% castor oil bristles.
