The idea for Sophie Home came when founder Sophie McNiven had spent several years as a men's underwear designer. Sophie's love for design, designing, product development and running her own business found her creating designs for colourful home textiles from the corner of her sitting room in London.

The story behind Sophie Home

ETHICAL VALUES

From day one Sophie had decided that the core value at the forefront of her brand would be kindness - for people and the planet. She started sourcing like-minded producers for her designs and successfully partnered with a fabulous knitting manufacturer in India with a strong sense of social and economic obligation - and is still working with them today. In 2013 Sophie Home was launched from a trusty cabin at the bottom of her garden in South East London, starting with seven throw styles and seven cushion covers.

GIRL POWER!

Soon Sophie was designing kitted baby blankets and soft toys. By 2020 she realised the business needed a new skillset to take the brand to the next level, so brought Jess on board to help with logistics and operations.

Today Sophie has a studio and shop in Catford and an all-female team continuously introducing new and better ways to make a positive impact in people's lives and the environment. Sophie is super proud of Jess and the team who together are tirelessly working towards B Corp status, an official certification earned by businesses that use the power of the marketplace to help solve social and environmental problems. Go for it girls! 💪💪
