This strong and durable wool twine is incredibly versatile and multi purpose!  With so many lovely colours to choose from it's not just great for garden use, but beautiful enough for creative arts and crafts and for use as a sustainable alternative to plastic based ribbons and bows when wrapping gifts.

Why we love it

  • Sustainably produced in Britain from pure Dartmoor wool
  • Supports British rare breed farmers who practise regenerative agriculture
  • Creatively designed by a small family business committed to sustainability, social values and British Heritage manufacturing

Great for supporting plants and shrubs, marking out straight lines for planting rows and to separate areas of the garden, tying up bean cane structures and hanging bunches of lavender, onions or garlic to dry.

White faced Dartmoor sheep are one of Britain's most ancient breeds - sadly now classified as at risk. Dartmoor National Park farmers breed and tend the sheep to preserve them, and have very small flocks.

The sheep are sheared in the spring and the wool is taken to Yorkshire where it is washed using modern effluent treatments that ensures no harmful chemicals are released into the environment. Any waste material is converted into slug pellets and slow release fertiliser. When dry, the wool is ready for spinning which is done on traditional Victorian machines that have been adapted for electricity and need no mineral oil or lubricants to run. The spun yarn is then coloured using low impact synthetic dyes that don't contain any toxic substances or heavy metals, meaning the dye and rinse water can be recycled and used again. The yarn is then spooled onto a recyclable card tube and packaged in a recyclable paper belly band.

Spool measures approximately 7.5cm high x 4.5cm diameter. 35m.
