Compostable Sponge with Loofah Scourer

The absorbent sponge side is made from cellulose, a wood pulp fibre, and the scouring pad is from the loofah plant. Loofah plants are a bit like courgettes and cucumbers, are very fibrous when ripe and have effective abrasive qualities when dried.

To prolong life, after each use rinse in clean water and allow to dry out to prevent mould. The sponges can be freshened up occasionally by washing in the dishwasher or washing machine at 30°C or 40°C. Well looked after sponges should last for over a month.

Once well used, cut up the sponge to speed up composting and place in home compost bin, wormery or organic waste bin. Alternatively, it can be placed in with your usual household waste. The materials are stitched together instead of glued meaning they can be home composted, unlike many products labelled 'biodegradable'.

Sold singly or as a pack of four. Each scourer measures approximately 7cm x 11cm x 2cm.
