A salt facial steam is a cleansing skincare product, and is just that - a steam for your face. Added to a bowl of hot water, the idea is to position your face above the flow of steam with a lightweight towel over your head, creating a 'steam tent'. The warmth from the steam boosts circulation and helps to open up your pores and loosen any debris, while the infusion of salts gives your skin the hydration it needs.
Salt facial steams are easy to use at home. You only need a couple of tablespoons at a time, so a jar goes a long way, or you can try all the different fragrances with a shot size.
Step 1 - Add two tablespoons of your chosen steam to a bowl and pour over hot water until the bowl is around a third full. Set your bowl on a low table or stool, somewhere sturdy that you can comfortably lean over.
Step 2 - Cover your head and neck with your towel to create a ‘steam tent’ and sit with your face around 30cm above the water. Don't get too close as the steam will be hot!
Step 3 - Take slow, deep breaths and relax! We recommend steaming for 5-10 minutes before cleansing your face and applying any serums or moisturisers.
Choose from two sizes:-
200g jar - approximately 8.5cm high including stopper x 6.5cm diameter.
50g shot - tube approximately 8.5cm high x 2.5cm diameter.
The first purpose-built facial steamers date back to the early 1900s, but the use of steam itself as a method of relaxing and cleansing the body can be dated back as far as the Ancient Greeks and Romans.
Hand blended in North Yorkshire using Dead Sea salt, pink Himalayan Rock salt, essential oils and botanicals. The unique formula is developed to help with a range of skincare woes and is a great step to add in to your skincare regime. Salt + Steam recommends steaming no more than twice a week.
